Half Bath Redo for Under $300

Half Bath Redo for Under $300

When we bought our home in March 2020, I promised myself I would not rush decorating the place and making it “mine”. We spent 6 months off and on planning this half bath and I am SO delighted with how it turned out! This is our first room in the entire house that is 100% “complete”!

And the best part- we did it all under $300. Patience and knowing exactly what you want will help with keeping home decor costs down!

Here is the before and after:

The story of the half bath:

In spring of 2017, Mack and I went on our first vacation abroad alone. It was my last spring break in college and he was already working in Raleigh. We went to St. Thomas and had one of the best vacations ever. We went around the town one day and stopped in an art shop, where I found this artist display who made pottery turtles in different stages of birth and fell in LOVE with them. I told Mack the minute I saw them I wanted one in each “phase” and that they would be perfect in a guest bathroom in a house one day. they spent 3 years on random shelves in different apartments, but as soon as we purchased our home they were set on the bathroom counter.

I wanted to plan my entire bathroom around these turtles, so I kept the theme in line with them. They are the center of the wall shelves, which favor drift wood. I wanted all the decor to be wood and marble with black accents to not take away from the turtles.

We painted all of our bathrooms in “sea salt” which looks more blue than I originally wanted but it’s a nice calming color that keeps the walls looking bright and open!

Our mirror was from Ikea and was the cheapest mirror I found even compared to many on Facebook marketplace. Our light we waited to go on sale, and it’s from Lowe’s. We used gift cards for Ikea and Lowe’s for both of these items, but I am including them in the total price of the bathroom.

I found our faucet from Amazon and we LOVE it. Matte black just looks SOOOO good in a home- don’t you think?! The towel rack, and toilet paper rack came from amazon as well, and we got the light from Lowe’s to match the squared off theme of the racks. I also got the shelves from Amazon and they are excellent quality.

All of the drawer pulls are also from Amazon, and you would not believe how inexpensive they were! And they are such great quality as well.

I got the rug, hand towels, trash can, and soap dispenser all from Homegoods and I love that they add to my theme in here. The soap dispenser brings in the matte black and marble, while the trash can brings in the wood from the wall shelves and mixes it with the marble.

The only thing I would add in here is a matching matte black toilet handle, which they have, but I really don’t think that’s necessary at the moment.

Faucet $49

Towel bar $20

Toilet paper holder $15
