Weekly Happenings- February 20
Productivity Tip of the Week
Get the most important tasks done first. Every night before bed, I think about the next day. I am always planning ahead and that is the only reason I can get everything done in a day. I write down my 3-5 most important things I need to focus on the next day, and I do it as soon as I’m finished with my morning routine, and before I start work for the day.
In my career, I function the same way. I do the most important task for work or the most difficult one, first. This way, the rest of the day feels like a breeze and I’m not wasting any energy for the next few hours dreading the biggest task of the day.
Today is a perfect example of how I do this in my life: I’m writing this post at 7:45am on Friday morning. This post does not go out to you until Sunday evenings, but I am traveling this weekend and leaving this afternoon. I have to plan ahead and make sure this post is completed and scheduled before I leave this afternoon, so I wrote this on my list of things to do today before we leave. Since this is the biggest task I have today (besides work), I made sure to get up and get my morning routine done earlier so I can focus on this post with no distractions and get it done.
Motivational/Inspirational Message of the Week
If you don’t plan ahead, you are bound to forget things or feel rushed and stressed by accidentally waiting until the last second. I did that all through school and was a chronic procrastinator until I decided I wanted to be ahead of the game in all aspects of my life- I got organized.
I am linking the planner I have fallen in love with below, because it checks off all the boxes in my list of the “perfect planner” after using almost every brand available. Getting organized in a planner like this is the only way I survive my to-do lists, running a YouTube channel, and Instagram account, a blog, and my full time job in finance. Oh and I also work out daily, meditate daily, have a solid morning routine, teaching myself piano, reading 12 books a month, keeping a clean home, and still have plenty of time to relax and date my spouse. Literally I would crumble if I didn’t have an organized schedule in a planner on paper, and a system that works and makes me feel like I can do anything!
You can too- all it takes is discipline and holding yourself accountable- and writing things down.
Outfit Favorites of the Week
I got my ultra mini Uggs in the mail FINALLY. I ordered them December 1st and they just arrived last week! They are the perfect shoe for around the house and to slip on and wear out when it’s cold. I love the “antelope” color too. They are forever out of stock and back ordered, but linking them here so you’ll know where to look if you’re wanting a pair too!
I’m also wearing this super trendy necklace stack every single day, even with athleisure and sweats and I love how wearing jewelry just spices up any outfit. I got these two necklaces and this genius necklace stacker piece from Kendra Scott. The necklace piece is a brilliant thing to own if you love layering necklaces too, but hate that they get tangled up easily after wearing for hours.

Books I’m Loving
I’m now reading book 12 of 2022 “Regretting You” by Colleen Hoover- I’m about 50% done, and I’m obsessed. It’s been a nice change from my usual spicy romance novels and the freaking twists and turns this book has taken so far is addicting! Loving this so far- it’s also free with Kindle Unlimited!
Anything Else I have to tell you!
I have been struggling with hormones trying to regulate themselves after going off 10 years straight of hormonal birth control, and I also have season depression that kicks in end of January every single year. It’s been extra dark in my mind this past month, and I wanted to remind you that everyone goes through struggles like this, or worse. I woke up one morning and thought I had drank so much wine I blacked out the day before (I didn’t have any alcohol) because my brain just shut off from being so down. I had to sit in bed and piece together where I’d been because I couldn’t remember. That feeling of darkness is just so, so daunting.
I always forget how dark depression feels until I’m back in it. I am so grateful mine only lasts a few weeks of the year and it’s primarily season based, but if you have been struggling I want you to know you’re not alone. Social media makes it feel like we are the only ones who feel dark sometimes.
If you struggle this time of year as well, please remember to get outside as much as you can. I have walked 8 miles in the last 2 days and it does wonders for my brain. Eat healthy, stay away from alcohol, and if you still don’t meditate, please meditate this week. Just 5 minutes a day, try to meditate every day and tell me in 2 weeks you don’t start craving it. I recommend the free app, Insight Timer if you’re new to meditation. I still use it almost every day because I am still relying on guided meditations to keep my mind from wandering.
