Productivity Tip of the Week
Make a to-do list and re-wire your brain to think you will stick to it!
What does that even mean?!
If you’re like me, you’ve set goals and made to-do lists that you haven’t met or completed. What that tells your brain is you don’t do what you say you’re going to do. You can recognize this if every time you set a new goal you hear a little voice in your head saying “yeah right, you won’t do that just like you didn’t do xxxxx last year!”. How do we re-wire our brains? Guys, it’s so simple it’s silly but it will actually change the wiring of your brain and you’ll be training your brain that you do what you say you’re going to do!
When you wake up, say “I’m getting out of bed” and then, get out of bed! When you brush your teeth, say, “I’m going to brush my teeth”, and then brush them. When you are about to make breakfast, say, “I’m going to make breakfast and eat” and then immediately make breakfast and eat.
It sounds so silly, but I’ve been practicing this for the past week and I’m going to continue- it has subtly helped over just one week and I’m already trusting myself again! So now, when I make a to-do list, I fill it with simple things as well as the larger tasks, and I find myself checking off that to-do list quicker and I’m more motivated to get my larger tasks done because if I could complete those smaller ones, I can complete the larger ones too :)
Motivational/Inspirational Message of the Week
Going off of the paragraph above, you are in control of your daily routine and schedule. You have the power to make a to-do list of important things you need to cross off, and you have the power to make sure they get done. Don’t get in your own way- if you want to work out 4 times this week, schedule that on your calendar at a certain time each day. When that time comes, get up and immediately start your workout. Don’t overthink it, just get it done and cross it off and you’ll feel so much better and start to trust yourself again, too!
Outfit Favorites of the Week
Align shorts- all day, every day. I’m obsessed. I have 4 pair now and it’s still not enough! I live in these things. They are perfect for my walks and pilates, and for casually wearing around the house or running my errands. They are so comfortable and not see through at all. Also, you just can’t beat the quality of Lululemon. I wear mine every single day without fail and they feel and look the same as they did when I first purchased them! I’m also linking the Amazon claw clips I wear every day too- these are so strong and feel way more expensive than they are.
New YouTube Video
New video going live tomorrow, 6/6! Click here to subscribe to my YouTube channel so you will receive a notification when the video is live. It’s all about how I re-organized under my bathroom sink and kitchen pantry for summer!
Books I’m Loving
I’m still reading the Blue Moon series- yes, still. They are really good and entertaining and I’m finishing up with book 6 of 8. I’m very excited for the exciting change in pace and something to keep my attention so I’ll be diving into The Couple Next Door this week or next, depending on what I feel like reading!
Anything Else I have to tell you!
Don’t forget to water your soul just as you would water your plants. I love to listen to podcasts while watering my plants, or drink my new favorite strawberry shortcake smoothie while watering them so I can do something good for myself during this time when I have no phone distraction and I’m not in front of my computer.
Strawberry Shortcake Smoothie:
5-6 Frozen Strawberries
1/2 Frozen Banana
2 Cups Almond Milk (unsweetened vanilla)
2 Scoops Orgain Simple Creamy Vanilla Protein Powder
1 TBSP Almond Butter (no sugar added)
1/2 TBSP Maca Powder (optional)
1 TBSP Flax Seeds (ground or whole)
3 Dates, pitted
Blend and enjoy! I am obsessed with this smoothie and made it every day last week- it’s delicious and I love the little chunks of date in it. Trust me- it’s so delicious! This recipe was from Sam Ozkural but I modified it just a little.
Xoxo, Jess
